If crocheting is your thing, then you might find inspiration in some of the following projects. They are all free patterns that I have put together and enjoyed over the past few years. I thought it could come in handy to list them in one post.

Crochet Spring Placemat

I have a confession to make.

I really, really love making placemats.

Tough one, right? I hope you’ll be able to fall asleep after that.

It might all have started a couple of weeks ago when I was making these Easter Placemats – that was real fun.

What really fascinates me when it comes to crocheted placemats might be how easy they are to create – you just go left and right and left and right… while watching your favorite program – and before you notice it, it’s done.

And then I love, love, love the moment when I add the edging and a little decoration – that’s just magical…

If you’d like to make these cute placemats and let everyone enjoy their meals even more then I’ve prepared this how to’ for you:

1. Start by making a very loose (!) chain of 73 stitches.

2. Then crochet DC (double crochet) into each stitch.

3. Continue making 37 rows all together. And the green part is done.

4. The edging is very simple: *5 DC into one stitch, skip one stitch, 1 SC (single crochet), skip one stitch* … and repeat this along the edge up to the corner.

5. This is how I made the corners: after you’ve done the last ‘5 DC’ before the corner, skip one stitch and then crochet 1DC – 1TC (triple crochet) – 1 DC into the corner stitch, slip one stitch and continue as in the step 4.

6. Now the lovely flower – this one is quite easy too:

Row 1: Chain 8

Row 2: Chain 2, 17 DC, join with slip stitch

Row 3: *Chain 6, skip 3 stitches, SC* – repeat this 6 times

Row 4: around each petal crochet: *DC – DC – DC – CH – DC – DC – DC – SC* – repeat 6 times and finish off.

7. For the cute swirly ornaments I made two chains of 40 stitches and sewed them (along with the flower) into place.

Cute, ha?

I hope the things I’ve just written make at least a little sense.

And of course – Enjoy, dear friends!

Hello!

I am sending you my warmest greetings from the spoon… (Can you see me waving at you?)

Anyway, I’ve just finished crocheting this placemat.

More precisely, it is an Easter placemat (… and I only hope it resembles an egg).

And yes, there are two of them… because there are two of us who share the table.

My boyfriend grins slightly when I serve him food these days…

Nevertheless, I think he is slowly getting used to my colorful Spring ‘n Easter worshiping mania.

In case someone arrives to visit, they will have to dine like this too – no matter how hard they might fight, kick or scream – there’s just no way to escape my Easter placemats.

If you feel like it, you can make these cuties too.

I’ve prepared the pattern for you.

It’s quite easy and it will provide you with the sweet, precious time to relax and watch you favorite programs without feeling guilty for just sitting and staring at the TV screen (whoops… somebody has just revealed her huge secret… many Martha Stewart shows have been watched here recently).

This is the pattern:

Enjoy dear friends!

Halloween Amigurumi Ghost – Boo!

(Update: To see more of my patterns, please visit my ONLINE SHOP!)

This has been this ghost’s first photo shoot ever.

That pretty much explains the expression on his face.

He is trying to be scary, he really is, but he ended up looking shy and stressed out.

Poor little guy!

“Scientifically” we could call him amigurumi crochet ghost.

Have you ever heard of amigurumi?

I hadn’t up until last week when I was searching for some hand-made dolls or creatures on the internet and I came across this art.

And I instantly fell in love with it.

Amigurumi (according to Wiki) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.

And in case you would like to make a little ghost by yourself I have put together this easy pattern!

Abbreviations

ch      chain

sc      single crochet

sl st   slip stich

st       stich

Ghost Pattern

Row 1: Chain 5. Join with sl st into first ch. Work 7 sc into center ring. Join with sl st.

Row 2: 2 sc in each sc around, 14 st. Join with sl st.

Row 3 – Row 10: 1 sc in each sc. Join with sl st.

Row 11: *1 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to  *. Join with sl st.

Row 12: 1 sc in each sc. Join with sl st.

Row 16: 1 sc in each sc. Join with sl st.

Row 17: 1 sc in each sc. Join with sl st.

To make eyes and mouth make chain of 4 stiches and work 1 sc in each chain stich …

… and that’s it!

Really easy!

I didn’t stuff this ghost because he didn’t need it.

But I have already bought lots of poly-fill for my future friends.
