New Crochet Pattern – A Baby’s First Teddy Bear

crochet pattern a baby's first teddy bear

When I was just expecting my baby a couple of months ago and shared the news with you here on this site, one of my sweet readers replied to my post with a message saying that the baby will have it really nice with a mom who can make a teddy bear for him.

I loved the idea and it kept reappearing in mind until I thought it was high time to make it reality.

That thing just needed to be done.

I visualized what the teddy bear could look like to be appropriate for my now six months old baby. I wanted it to be cute first of all. And I also wanted it to be easy to lift and move around.

So I crocheted and crocheted and then crocheted some more and after a few days of work a little teddy bear was born.

I am happy to report that my little boy welcomed his new buddy very warmly. He likes to hug him, squeeze him, throw him as far as he can and these days, as a big new thing, he is even learning how to crawl towards him.

We take the little teddy with us wherever we go and he works very well as a small cushion for pushchair or car seat naptime.

Of course, as usual, I have put together a pattern for those of you who would like to make a teddy bear like this one too. The pattern is is full op step-by-step pictures and is really easy to follow (… if I may say so myself).

You can find the pattern HERE or HERE.

I wish you happy crocheting and to the kids in your life I wish a lot of fun playing with their new buddy.

New Pattern – Crochet Soft Toy Cube

Crocheted cubes are here! Crocheted cubes are here!

I love, love, love these.

As I wrote in my last post, the idea to make these was born as I was online shopping for toys the other day. I saw a cute cube and thought – hey, what if I could crochet that? And I happily did. My little boy already loves his cubes and enjoys rolling them around. It’s a sweet sweet toy.

Crochet Cubes Rule My World

crochet cubes soft toy

Recently, while doing some online toy shopping for my little son, I stumbled upon a cute multi colored cube. I loved it. As I was just about to add it into my cart an idea popped up in my mind – what if I could make something similar with my yarn and hook? That could be fun. And I could finally make a first toy for my baby, the thing I was planning to do for quite some time.

I got really excited and started gathering my yarn immediately.

Right now I am posting this from cube heaven. I made many, frogged even more, and have come up with two designs so far. I carry the third one in my head – it should be a really happy one that I can’t wait to work on.

Cubes are so much fun!

I have now gotten into a state where I think I want to make so many of these soft toy cubes that my little Mr. P will be able to build a fort with them (not yet, since he is only 5 months old, but one has to get prepared). 🙂 And then I really want to make a big one that he can even sit on.

Cubes are really so much fun!

I will share more details about these projects soon. And of course, there will be patterns for you to enjoy.

Thanks for reading!

With lots of love,

Petra
