New lake, cool water, and a clear blue sky – that pretty much sums up our past weekend trip.
As usual, I am inviting you to travel and see the new places with us.
Let’s go…
Yes, we found a new lake on our trip. Not that we were the first people to find it. On the contrary, it seemed that we were the very last people in the whole wide world who’d managed to make it there. But we were happy about our discovery anyway.
The lake is called Lake Neusiedl and it is situated in Austria. It seems we have focused on exploring Austria this summer.
Anyhow, we’d had no idea that that lake existed. And we’d had even less idea that it was situated so near – within just about 90 minutes drive from where we live.
What a great surprise!
People enjoyed swimming, sailing, surfing, or just sitting in a beach bar and chatting over cool white wine.
Aaaah, sweet summer.
The nature around the lake was amazing, so vibrant and full of life.
The air around such a huge body of water smells completely different too. It’s refreshing and very relaxing. Just magical.
Utterly captivated by the joyful atmosphere we sat down on a bench by the lake and watched, and watched, and watched, almost fell asleep, and then watched some more, until it was time to go back to where we came from.
To tell you the whole truth, all the way home I was dreaming about chilled white wine. That idea grew so large in my head that it pushed everything else aside. Which leads me to revealing my new summer hobby to you.
Because my new summer hobby is drinking chilled white wine. Actually, I have a big glass next to me right now.
I really love finding new hobbies.

I have recently fallen in love with kayaking. I do not own one yet, but I am hoping to invest in one within a year or so. Another hobby that I would like to try but have not done so yet is paddleboarding. Such an interesting concept (mixing surfing and rowing actions). I have also recently taken up cycling this summer. I will be participating in my first cycling event in September for the American Diabetes Association. My father has diabetes and we are riding as a team! Beautiful photos, Petra! I must live vicariously through them until the day I can see the world for myself! 🙂
Dear Joy, once again I have to admit that you are a true inspiration to me. You are being really active, that is so positive.
I have never even heard of paddleboarding, so thanks for introducing a new sport to me – it really sounds like a lot of fun. Also, good luck in the cycling event – it is nice to do sports for such a noble cause. Your Dad must be very proud of you.
